Obituary of Mohammad Kazem Ferdowsali

Mohammad Kazem Kouroush Ferdowsali was 91 years old when he passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is survived by his wife of 62 years (Soroor), his sons (Ali and Amir), his daughter (Susan) and grandchildren (Rosheen and Ashling). Mohammad was born in Shiraz, Iran where he served in the military as a colonel for 25 years.

Mohammad emigrated to the US in 1977 to provide a better life for his family. Upon coming to the US, he first lived in Santa Rosa, CA close to his relatives.

Mohammad’s first job in the US was to operate a delicatasen that he purchased in San Mateo, CA where he operated the restaurant for 5 years before selling it and moving to the Santa Clara valley. Mohammad worked as an insurance agent for many years, then drove a school bus for underprivileged students until his retirement in 1997.

Mohammad enjoyed gardening and outdoors. He loved roses and living in Salinas was very refreshing for him as he enjoyed the weather.  He was also a very good cook and did all of the grocery shopping and cooking until he was around 82 years old.  Mohammad was a very compassionate, caring, family loving humble person that lived a very simple life.  His hobby was to search the internet for news from Iran and watch classical Iranian movies online.

Mohammad made friends everywhere he visited and everyone loved him for his smile, his eyes and sense of humor.

We will all miss Mohammad as life won’t be the same without him and moving on will be very difficult.

The services planned for Mohammad will be held as follows:

- Tuesday April 30th from 1-5 pm: Open casket viewing at Healey mortuary:  (405 N Sanborn Rd, Salinas, CA 93905)

- Wednesday May 1st at 10 am:  Prayer service at the local masjid,  (35 W Market St, Salinas, CA 93901)

- Wed May 1st @10:30 am:
Transport Mohammad from the local masjid to Mission Memorial Park Cemetery in Seaside.
