Obituary of Jose Antonio Garcia

On Friday March 19th, 2021 my father Jose A. Garcia loving father and husband of five children, gained his angel wings and was called home by his creator up in heaven, he was 74 years old. He passed away in the comfort of his own home surrounded by his family. Born on April 10, 1946 in Canovanas, Puerto Rico to Nieves Garcia and Francisca Perez. “Puerto” or “El Puerto” as he was known by many, worked in the agricultural industry for many years of his life. He worked 25 years for Jekyl Vineyards, and worked the remaining of his 20 years as a production line worker up until his retirement at the age of 62. On September 14, 1967 he married the love of his life Mercedes Huerta. They raised two boys Jose A.

Garcia Jr, Jesse (a.k.a. Borego) and three daughters, Connie, Rosie and Cristina, along with 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

He was an avid music lover and was known for his quick wit, sense of humor and infectious smile, and for his kind and compassionate spirit. Puerto enjoyed going for daily walks with his wife, watching WWE, Sci-Fi and action movies, and loved his Telenovelas. The last few years of his life he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and four cats, Chiquita, Whiskers, Scooter and Midnight.

He is preceded in death by his son Jesse (Borego) Garcia May 23, 1970-March 31, 2012 and his parents Nieves and Francisca.

You will always be loved and never forgotten, and will be forever missed. Rest in peace my sweet poppa.
