Obituary of Virginia Alicia Santiago

Virginia Alicia Santiago, Age 67 of Spreckels, Ca. Passed away unexpectedly June 2, 2020. She was born to the parents of Marcelino and Hilaria Espina. On March 1st 1953 in Salinas, Ca. She graduated from Alisal High School in 1971 and from there chose a handful of careers but then retired from doing billing insurance from health care for women after 20 years in 2004. She was married to the love her life for 50 years Gabriel M. Santiago in 1970.

She is survived by her loving husband Gabe Santiago, Her 5 Children Crystal Santiago, Tammie Dowdy, Marce Santiago, Gabby Santiago, And Josiah Santiago, all of Spreckels Ca. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Her Sisters Josie Morales, of Ventura Ca. Rosie Olivera of Prunedale Ca. Maggie Espina of Maui Hawaii, Chris Vasquez of San Jose Ca, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews she loved them all so much.

She is preceded in death by her brother Marcelino (Jr) and her mother and father.

Virginia was a professional cook in the kitchen always put her heart into what she was making she was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. As her health declined she would still get up every morning and make meals for her family for the day. I always thought of our mother as a hummingbird because of how busy she always was...

Viewing Ceremony Will Be Held On Friday June 12th 2020 from 1-9 p.m at Healey Mortuary In Salinas. Ca. Services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday June 13, 2020 at Healey Mortuary followed by the queen of heaven cemetery in Prunedale Ca.

There will be a celebration of life at Virgy and Gabes home in Spreckels but because of the Covid-19 we ask that you limit your visit. We will be planning another celebration of life once the shelter in place has been lifted.
